About 1700 years ago, the emperor Diocletian paid a visit to the Island Šolta and, in addition to his magnificent palace in Split, decided to build his fishing pond on Šolta.

Facilities

At first thought, the modern facilities of Martinis Marchi may seem incompatible with the original purpose of this old country castle, yet the blend of three hundred year old stone and a modern pool looks absolutely fantastic. The stone façades conceal two saunas, a conference and presentation hall, an extensive lounge with a dining room and a kitchen, a wine cellar, a restaurant, a room for relaxation with a piano, a spacious terrace by the pool and more... anything you wish for your complete pleasure.

Location

About 1700 years ago, the emperor Diocletian paid a visit to Šolta and, in addition to his palace in Split, decided to build his fishing pond on Šolta. According to a folk legend, the Illyrian queen Teuta also had her castle built in Senjska, one of the many bays of Šolta. They didn’t care about Šolta’s rough terrain. They saw only her virgin nature and enjoyed the life of solitude.

Marina

Newly refurbished marina Martinis Marchi is set near the luxury Martinis Marchi Heritage Hotel. The breakwater 90m in lenght, with a lighthouse on the end, marks the extension of over 50 fully equiped berth places as a safe place for yachts up to 35m and even longer on the outer side of the breakwater. Acces to the quays is designed as a charming event arena in the style of ancient Greek theatres. Martinis Marchi Marina and its strategic location with year-round cruising and long summers make it the ideal homeport for cruising, over wintering or as a homeport.

Hotel amenities

The complex even has a private heliport for those guests who may need it. It offers taxi and boat transfers to the airport and nearby islands.

Rooms & Suites

At the Martinis Marchi castle the comfort of the guests is a priority. Why else would it offer only six suites in a castle covering an area of 1500 square metres? Here every room has its story and its history, as well as a breathtaking view. Every piece of furniture has been carefully chosen. Beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs have been looked after for years in European metropolises like London, Vienna, Venice, Paris, Zagreb and then carefully restored, just like the castle itself. All the rooms have been named after famous people of that time who were somehow connected to the castle or to its builder Ivan Petar Marchi. However the hotel promises not to take you three centuries back. You can enjoy the advantages of a heated pool, terrace, sauna and steam bath, a sun terrace and a garden… All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with an LCD television and a satellite receiver, minibars, safes and telephones.

Dine & wine

The Martinis-Marchi restaurant has been an alluring attraction for visitors for years, especially for sailors who are used only to the best. The sun terrace, with occasional live music, offers the Mediterranean atmosphere of hot summer nights and unforgettable sea food, while the large wine cellar, transformed into part of the restaurant, is a reminder of the castle's historic past. Since Maslinica has been known for centuries as a fishing village, we recommend you to start your meal with octopus salad and then hot asparagus soup with scampi. For your main course, savor the typical Dalmatian lavish fish menu and wash it down with a fine red wine. For your side dish, don't forget to try Dalmatian style chard and potatoes cooked with a few drops of quality local olive oil. For dessert, don't miss the “rožada” from Dubrovnik.

True wine lovers would also be glad to visit our wine cellar, to make their experience complete. The refined ambience of the restaurant is extremely suitable for private and business celebrations. It can seat 120 people on the terrace and 80 indoors.
